There is no fixed timeline for completion on the flexible course. Most students take several months to finish their instrument, depending on how often they attend. For those who prefer a more focused approach, the one month intensive course offers a faster pathway.

The materials deposit covers all main tonewoods and core materials needed for your build, allowing you to focus fully on learning and making your instrument. Students provide their own machine heads, strings, and case, with support available when choosing suitable options.

Yes. A range of carefully selected tonewoods is available for each instrument type, and you will be guided through the options so you can choose materials that suit your preferences and musical goals.
For first time builders, all main materials are supplied through the workshop. This ensures that the woods used are properly seasoned, suitable for instrument making, and matched to your project. It also helps avoid unnecessary difficulties during the build.
Students with previous building experience are welcome to discuss using their own materials in advance

Yes. You are very welcome to visit the workshop by appointment. This gives you a chance to see the space, ask questions, meet other students, and view instruments in progress, so you can get a clear sense of the standard of work and how the courses operate.
And of course, the kettle is always on for a cup of tea or coffee.

We understand that unexpected things can arise from time to time. If you need to miss a session, your work can be continued at your next visit.
We do ask that as much notice as possible is given, as workshop places are limited and sessions are planned in advance. Regular attendance helps maintain steady progress and ensures the workshop runs smoothly for everyone.
